Bad Day

Today has been another bad day. Mason's worse for sure. He has a virus in his intestine called NEC. They had to put a pic line in him. It has been super scary and I've been a wreck! The first time they tried to put it in it didn't go. He got dehydrated and looked terrible! It is probably not the best when the doctor says he is concerned and you can feel it too. The pharmacist and a doctor came and gave him a blessing (love the priesthood). He looked quite a bit better after and they were able to get the second attempt in. He is on 3 antibiotics, they've stopped feeding him breast milk and has a tube down his throat sucking out the air. It's very difficult to see my baby look like this!

I feel really blessed to have had the doctor we had because they think they caught it early (he has been amazing!) I feel like I've been run over by a couple dump trucks. I think they might have gone in reverse and run me over again. But right now he is sleeping which is good, and he doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain, which is great. I just love this little guy and need him to get better!

Also my awesome sister-in-law, Heidi, showed up right when this all started. She is staying with me tonight (my whole family is in Bear Lake) and I have really needed her today!

I'm just praying that Mason has an ok night tonight. I'm scared to leave him. Maybe I won't...

Oh I am so sorry you have these worries! I can't imagine having a baby so sick. Just know that you have a lot of people praying for your family. Also, thank goodness for Heidi! I wish she was my sister-in-law :)

Lindsay,
I know how hard and how scary it is to sit and watch your newborn baby hooked up to monitors & machines & tubes...there is nothing worse! Just hang in there and take it one day at a time, maybe even one hour at a time. I went through a lot of emotions and feelings spending those long hours at the nicu, and the sweetest feeling of all was love & peace from my Heavenly Father. He is aware of you & Mason and is blessing you with strengh, I promise. You are in my prayers Linds!

I have been thinking about you a lot and know hospital life, being away from your family and worrying so much about your little one. I am so glad you have such good family support and pray for you and Mason. We wish you didn't have to go through these hard times and you want to just punch something : ), but, you won't learn what you need to learn any other way. Hugs and kisses to your family. Hang in there!!

Your friend Mandy(husband=Tim) is my sister in law Amy's sister. Amy told me about your baby and I just wanted to let you know that I know how you feel and the pain you must be feeling right now. I had twin girls in 8/08 and one of them got NEC. I wanted to let you know that although it is scary and so heartbreaking to watch them be sick, miracles do happen. My little Ali made it through NEC after 10 days of no feedings. She has had no more complications from it. I pray that your little Mason pulls through and recovers quickly! Just wanted to give you some hope. xx
